Zelensky: We still have to fight for victory, but Ukrainians can be proud of themselves, their country and their heroes

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy declared, on Saturday night, in his address to the nation, that Ukrainians still have to fight for victory, but they can be proud of themselves, their country and their heroes.

Next week marks six months since the invasion launched by Russia in Ukraine.

“We are preparing for the new week, which is very important for all of us, for our country. Our Flag Day is coming, our Independence Day. The commemoration of the veterans of the war for the freedom of Ukraine. We have the Crimean Platform. This year is really special. This year, can literally feel in the air of Crimea that the occupation there is temporary and Ukraine is returning. We will certainly remember our legends – this is and will be a Ukrainian tradition. Let us remember those whose lives became part of our national history , which can never be erased by anyone – by any enemy,” the Ukrainian president said, according to

“A significant milestone is coming – six months since this large-scale invasion. The war that changed everything for Ukraine, for Europe and for the world. Let’s think even today, let’s take a look, let’s evaluate the path that I traveled. How much has changed – what almost everyone in the world thought was impossible to change. How much has been gained, wrested from the Russian army, which for decades was considered invincible. I I remember the first days of the large-scale invasion, I remember what various “advisors” told me and advised me then… I know that many are now ashamed of the words that were said then. Since February 24, in these 178 days, Ukrainians proved that our people are invincible, our defenders are invincible. And I thank all those who showed their strength during this time, I thank all those who fought and are fighting for Ukraine, I thank all those who fight and help so our people, our state. Our unity, our belief in ourselves made possible the passage of these six months and the approach of this week, which is always important for every Ukrainian,” he continued.

He stated that the Ukrainians must fight and endure a lot of pain. “I have always said and I say sincerely: for the sake of Ukraine’s victory, we still have to fight, we still have to do a lot, we still have to persevere and, unfortunately, endure a lot of pain. But Ukrainians can feel proud of themselves, of the country them and their heroes. And let us all feel it together today – let us feel the power of our people, of our beautiful people. This power was and always will be – as long as we believe in ourselves, as long as we keep our unity, as long as we fight for Ukraine and as long as we work for our common Ukrainian victory. We should be aware that this week Russia may try to do something particularly ugly, something particularly cruel. This is our enemy.

But in any other week of these six months, Russia has done the same thing all the time – disgusting and cruel. One of the key tasks of the enemy is to humiliate us Ukrainians, to devalue our abilities, our heroes, to spread despair, fear, to spread conflict… Therefore, it is important that we never give up, not even for a moment . in this pressure of the enemy, let us not show weakness. We must all be strong enough to resist any enemy provocations – as long as it takes to hold the occupiers accountable for all their blows and terror – for Kharkiv and Donbas, for Azovstal and Mykolaiv, for the infiltration camps, for Bucea , Irpin… We must all be strong enough to resist and go to the victory of Ukraine. That’s why we stay together! We help each other! We are rebuilding what was destroyed! We fight for all our people. We believe in ourselves! We believe in Ukraine! Glory to each of you! Glory to Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
