The head coach of the national women’s handball team, Florentin Pera: “I believe in the potential of the summoned players and I want us to show up at the European Championship as a united team that fights in every match regardless of the opponent.
It is true that we faced a complicated situation in the formation of the team, considering that one of the mandatory conditions for participation in this year’s European Championship is that each player has the complete vaccination schedule (booster). Being conditioned by this rule, we requested a record that includes the eligibility of the players from the expanded group of 35. Unfortunately, a number of players do not meet this participation criterion and did not agree to be vaccinated, a decision that represents a right of each one separately, which is related to health and not to the sports part.
As such, in addition to Laslo, Bucur, Miticus, Zamfirescu with medical problems, other players are added to complete the list of unavailability. The initial situation was even more difficult, but an important part of the team accepted and understood the conditions imposed by the regulation, so we will line up a mix of experienced players and young players, five of them being debutants at a final tournament.
I am convinced that every player will give her best for the national team and we aim to fight to the last drop of energy for the supporters of the national team. GO ROMANIA!”
