The International Piano Competition has started in Târgu Mureș – News from Mures, News Targu mures

The Small Hall of the Palace of Culture hosted a press conference on the subject of the International Piano Competition, organized by the Baroque Ensemble Association, Transylvania, on Monday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. The event was attended by jury members Csíky Boldizsár jr. – pianist, university professor dr. at the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj, Romania, the president of the jury, Adela Liculescu – concert pianist, Vienna, Austria, Nicolae Dumitru – pianist, professor at the “George Enescu” National College of Music in Bucharest, Romania and Levente György – general director of the State Philharmonic from Târgu Mureș, Romania. The jury also includes Romeo Rîmbu – permanent conductor of the Oradea State Philharmonic.

The Târgu Mureș International Competition aims to select young pianists under the age of 32, whose training is in full swing and whose ideal is a career as a concert soloist. This competition, which will take place between October 10-13, 2022, in the Great Hall of the Târgu Mureș State Philharmonic, offers participants the opportunity to be soloists in a symphonic concert during the final of the Competition, in front of the Mures audience.

“When I had the chance to talk a few months ago, with the director of the State Philharmonic in Târgu Mureș, I proposed two competitions, the “Erich Bergel” International Conducting Competition and the piano competition. I was surprised to receive from Yamaha Music Europe a Bösendorfer grand piano from Vienna, which will give great satisfaction to the competitors. The contest program is demanding, similar to the big international contests, and I was happy that so many contestants signed up,” said Prof. Univ. Csíky Boldizsár jr.

The following prizes will be awarded: First Prize – 3000 euros The winner of the First Prize will be invited to perform, in the following season, two more symphonic concerts, one in the company of the State Philharmonic of Târgu Mureș, one in the company of the State Philharmonic of Satu Mare. Second Prize – 2000 euros and Third Prize – 1000 euros. Three special prizes will be awarded, the Constantin Silvestri Prize – 2000 RON, offered by bioeel Târgu Mureș and the László Árpád Prize – 2000 RON, for the best contestant from Târgu Mureș, from the faculty (Department of Music in Hungarian) of the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș. A special prize – a recital offered by the Hungarian Cultural Center in Bucharest, for a contestant from Târgu Mureș.

“There are no longer the sharing criteria that existed 100 years ago, what the average pianist is playing today is at a level far above what the average pianist was playing 100 years ago. In Romania, I don’t know if there were 10-15 pianists who could sing Rhapsody no. 2 by Franz Liszt, now I think there are at least 100 who know how to approach it. We will be faced with an extremely difficult task, to distinguish between people with extraordinarily high training”, said Prof. Nicolae Dumitru during the conference.

According to what was added by Adela Liculescu – a concert pianist who arrived from Vienna, all the contestants are winners, just by the fact that they presented themselves.

From Mureș County, Antal Anna Andrea, Kozma Istvan Levente and Mathe Peter are participating in the competition. From other cities Buzdugan Ștefan Ciprian, Cutova Inya Maria, Lăcătoș Mark Iosuah, Lungu Darius Isaac, Mihăilescu Ioan, Nagy Antoniu Tiberiu, Vârtejaru Ștefan Theodor and Vooropciuc Maria Izabela.

Arai Michi and Purdue Maya participate from Japan, Do Vale Ventura De Sousa Nuno Miguel from Portugal, Fediurko Roman from Ukraine, Lucia Donatella from Hungary, Orazbakov Abdakhmed from Kazakhstan compete.
