The first defeat of the season for Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Benfica Lisbon put on a show in Tuesday night’s Champions League group stage fifth-leg tie, while title-holders Real Madrid suffered their first defeat of the season in all competitions.

PSG beat Maccabi Haifa 7-2 at the Parc des Princes, ensuring their presence in the round of 16. Messi, Mbappe, with doubles and two assists each, Neymar, Soler and Goldberg’s own goal completed a magical evening for the Parisians.

In the other match in the group, Benfica beat Juventus 4-3, after the “eagles” had 4-1 at one point. The “Old Lady”, who has scored 11 goals in five games, came back at the end and came close to a goal, but lost and missed qualifying for the round of 16.

AC Milan remains in the race for the next stage of the competition, after winning 4-0 in Zagreb, against the local team Dinamo. The goalkeeper Ciprian Tătăruşanu defended six shots on the goal area, the most dangerous being fired by Ivanusec (18).

Real Madrid, with several notable absences, lost 2-3 on the field of the RB Leipzig team, which is not allowed to lose against Şahtior in the last stage to reach the round of 16. In Glasgow, Celtic ended a draw with Şahtior, 1-1.

Borussia Dortmund drew with Manchester City, 0-0, a result that qualifies the home team in the round of 16. The team coached by Pep Guardiola could have won, but Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty (58). City, however, are confident of first place in the group.

Nine teams secured their places in the last eight of the Champions League: Napoli, FC Bruges, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Benfica.
