The Great Hall of the Administrative Palace in Târgu Mureș hosted on Friday, September 16, from 10:00 a.m., a conference on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Save the Children Mureș Association. Gabriela Alexandrescu, executive director of Salvați Copiii Romania, Mara Togănel, prefect of Mureș county, Csép Andrea, UDMR deputy and Dr. Meda Neagoe, president of Salvați Copiii Mureș branch, spoke at the opening.
Save the Children Mureș branch celebrates 30 years since it became an essential part of the community in Mureș county, a period full of completed projects. 12,000 children, 5,000 parents and 600 teachers benefited from educational services and psychological counseling. The activity of those involved is dedicated to children from the desire to offer them a better, safer world, free from any form of violence, with access to education and health.

Day care centers for children
Day care centers for children operate in Târgu Mureș, within the “Serafim Duicu” and AI Cuza Secondary Schools, in Sighișoara We grow together and Tureni, Cluj.
The projects for the protection of children’s rights in the life of the Mures community provided the necessary support to children from several vulnerable groups, being focused on preschool education, school dropout prevention, school reintegration, legal education, protection against violence of refugee children, emergency situations, health, lobbying and campaigns, fundraising.
350 children from Ciurila, Cluj County, Bahnea, respectively Idiciu from Mureș County received socio-educational support in order to prevent and reduce school dropout, in parallel, integrated support solutions were offered for children with parents working abroad in Târgu Mureș , Sântana de Mureș and Sighisoara. 92 parents participated in parenting skills development activities at the Parent Counseling Center in Târgu Mureș, and 75 mothers from Râciu commune were assisted for a better state of health for themselves and their older children of 1-5 years.
Some of the completed projects
From 2010 until now, the organization has offered integrated community services in the rural environment for mothers, pregnant teenagers, pregnant minors and children aged 0-5. The objectives sought to facilitate access to medical, social and educational services at the local level, helping mothers, pregnant women, pregnant minors and their children up to 5 years of age to benefit from quality services in three integrated centers at the level of Râciu, Band and Mica communes. Beneficiaries were 2500 mothers, minor mothers and children.
From 2017 until now, a program of Education for a healthy lifestyle. There were information sessions for children and young people, regarding emotional health, bullying, nutrition, consumption behavior, sexual education. 60 volunteers, 5907 beneficiary children and 55 educational units were trained.
From 2010 to 2019, Summer kindergarten was a preschool and school inclusion program for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, the beneficiaries being 165 children from the Day Center at the Al.I School. Cuza Târgu Mureș.
school after school, remedial education, aims to prevent school dropout for children from vulnerable groups. A number of 375 children benefited from services provided, hot meals, homework help, recreational activities, remedial education and practice, supplies.
The program ran from 2018 to 2021 Future through school, 2018 – 2021, with the objective of reducing early school leaving among children and young people. 152 students from Bahnea and 48 students from Idiciu benefited.
Children alone at home, protection and education program for children left alone at home, as a result of their parents going to work abroad. At the Center Seraphim Duicu Târgu Mureș unique beneficiaries were 146 children and 122 parents. At the We Grow Together Center Zaharia Boiu General School in Sighisoara, the beneficiaries were 298 students, 214 parents, 30 trained volunteers, 1730 informed people.
Save the Children Mureș also has a support program for children from the armed conflict zone in Ukraine and their families.
In 30 years, 1125 volunteers have been involved in Salvați Copiii Mureș.
Salvați Copiii Târgu Mureș opens three new programs aimed at children whose parents have gone to work abroad, in Târgu Mureș, Sântana de Mureș and Sighisoara. The objective is to create an integrated, innovative and sustainable model to support the harmonious development of preschoolers and students with parents working abroad, with an emphasis on access to education, psychological counseling, recreational-social activities and health.
