MFA, travel warning for Spain and Portugal. Airline strikes are announced

Air strikes are announced in Spain and Portugal. The MFA issues a warning for Romanian citizens who have planned a trip.

Several union organizations have announced a strike by flight attendants of the airline Iberia Express from August 28 to September 6, 2022.

The strike will lead to blockages of the flights operated by the targeted company.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Romanian citizens inform themselves ahead of time about the status of booked flights, by consulting the website and/or contacting the flight operator directly.

Consular assistance for Romanians in Spain

Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the telephone number of the Consulate General of Romania in Madrid: +34917344004, the call being forwarded to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and answered by Call Center operators on a permanent basis.

At the same time, Romanian citizens who are faced with a difficult, special, emergency situation, have at their disposal the following telephone hotlines, depending on the consular district of residence, as follows:

Strike in Portugal by airport staff

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Romanian citizens who are in, transiting or intending to travel to Portugal that the National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (SINTAC) has announced the strike of the ground technical assistance staff employed in the structures of the airports in Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Funchal.

Thus, from Friday until August 28, inclusive, there will be delays in the airline flight schedule.

Under these conditions, Romanian citizens who are going to travel these days are asked to confirm their flights with the airlines before heading to the airports.

Permanently updated information on the airlines affected by the strike is available on the website: https://www.portway.pt/pt/media/noticias/, states the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement sent on Friday.

Also, Romanian citizens who face a difficult, special, emergency situation have at their disposal the permanent telephone number of the diplomatic mission of Romania in Lisbon: +351. 927,411,628.
