Moldova will apply protective measures if Russia “dare” to attack it, President Maia Sandu said on Monday, according to which the Russians are running away from Putin’s mobilization in the Republic of Moldova.
If Russia dares to attack the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, the authorities will implement the available protection measures, President Maia Sandu said on Monday during a joint press conference with her Georgian counterpart, Salome Zurabişvili, who was in a visit to Chisinau.
“Citizens’ safety is the main concern… We have made requests to partners to strengthen defense capabilities, including on this dimension. We have quite good discussions, when we will have concrete results we will let you know. I hope we will not end up in this situation, but if Russia dares to attack the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, we will implement protective measures”, declared Maia Sandu.
Asked what measures were taken by the authorities a week after three Russian missiles crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova to hit targets in Ukraine, she said that everything possible is being done to ensure the security of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens his.

For his part, the president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, declared that the violation of a country’s airspace is the same thing as the violation of territorial integrity.
“For us it is not something new, we have occupied regions, such things constantly happen here. My answer in this situation would be to show even more solidarity between us and the EU”, Zurabişvili declared.
In the same press conference, Maia Sandu emphasized the security risks posed by Russian citizens who want to flee from Putin’s mobilization in the Republic of Moldova.
“Security risks are greater today. A filter is implemented to ensure that people who want to destabilize the situation cannot reach the Republic of Moldova. But there are also many citizens of the Republic of Moldova who also have Russian citizenship and now want to return home. Things are kept under control. We will continue to monitor the situation”, she said.
Salome Zurabişvili declared that wars have no place in the modern world and that Russian aggression originates from the last century.
The President of Georgia: “Europe has seen the real face of Russia”
“The war in Ukraine represents a danger for our security, for Europe and for the whole world. He must not defeat inhumanity. It is a big challenge for us, who have occupied territories. I would like to condemn Russian aggression and the annexation of Ukrainian territories. For us, it is most important to be in solidarity. The war in Ukraine is a very big challenge, but at least Europe has seen the real face of Russia. We know it, we went through wars and occupation. Europe thought that Russia could be a partner, but the war changed this vision,” Zurabisvili said.
The two presidents agreed to intensify Moldovan-Georgian ties in the commercial-economic field and to exchange experience in combating propaganda and disinformation. This is the first visit of a Georgian president to Chisinau in the last 12 years, notes Deschide.md.
