Forensic accounting, expert forensic accountant – Mures News, Targu Mures News

The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), whose member is the Corps of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Accountants from Romania (CECCAR) launched, on September 6, an action plan to combat corruption and economic crime at global level, a consolidated commitment of the accounting profession to act in this direction. The plan exploits, in the public interest, the privileged status of freelance accountants in the relationship with the professional environment, with the business environment, institutions and regulatory and control authorities.

The Corps of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Accountants from Romania (CECCAR), the largest professional body in the financial-accounting field in Southeast Europe and a member of IFAC, has chosen to be part of the solution for the fight against corruption and economic crime at a global level. In this context, it becomes opportune to expand the area of ​​expertise of the accounting expert in combating these phenomena, through specific forensic accounting services – a combination of accounting and investigative techniques, used to discover financial fraud.

The accounting profession in Romania, represented by CECCAR, will implement at the national level the Action Plan to combat corruption and economic crime, developed by IFAC through the contribution of its members. Capitalizing on the expertise and essential role of accounting professionals in this direction will contribute to the consolidation of a robust anti-corruption ecosystem, to economic security.

The forensic accountant may be engaged to perform procedures to collect, analyze, evaluate or interpret certain evidentiary matters to assist interested parties in reaching a conclusion regarding the validity of concerns regarding the existence of possible fraud. An effective fight in this direction requires experienced specialists who look beyond the numbers, and CECCAR member accountants are the professionals who possess the necessary competence and expertise.
“In the context of the involvement of the accounting profession in the fight against corruption and economic crime, it is an opportune time to expand the range of skills of the accounting expert in combating these phenomena, through specific services of forensic accounting – a combination of accounting and investigative techniques, used to discover fraud financial. The forensic accountant may be engaged to perform procedures to collect, analyze, evaluate, or interpret certain evidentiary matters to assist interested parties (eg, the client, board of directors, or regulatory body) to reach a conclusion about the reasonableness concerns regarding the existence of possible frauds. An effective fight in this direction requires experienced professionals who can look beyond the numbers, identify the story the numbers can tell, and uncover what the numbers are trying to hide. He must know in detail the mechanisms and business models. The forensic accounting expert is precisely that professional who possesses the necessary competence and expertise”, is the opinion of the president of the Superior Council of CECCAR, accounting expert prof. Dr. Robert-Aurelian Șova.

This action plan is an open invitation for collaboration and partnership with all stakeholders in the field of anti-corruption and combating economic crime to work together in this mission of major importance.
