Bucharest: The new Imperio trams could hit the route in November. On which line will they travel | PHOTO & VIDEO GALLERY

The new Astra Imperio trams could enter circulation from November, on line 41, announced on Thursday, the general director of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB), Adrian Criţ.

“I would express a point of view regarding local public transport, because if we take into account today’s exhibition and what follows in the next ten days, I think that auspiciously and even with the participation of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, it would be an exhibition that should focus on public transport in Romania. On the other hand, I would like to highlight what is currently happening in public transport in the Capital. As you probably noticed, upon entering the building, in front, the new Imperio tram is on display, which will probably run from next month on line 41. We are discussing a project with a value of 890 million lei, plus VAT. It is about a hundred trams that will run in Bucharest”said Criţ at the opening conference of the Bucharest Auto Show (SAB) & Accessories 2022.

At this moment, they are working on the development of feasibility studies for the purchase of another 200 trams, of which 20 are bi-directional.

“Bucharest will benefit from a hundred trolleybuses, with a value of 325 million lei, plus VAT, respectively 12-meter electric buses, with a value of over 300 million lei. I would like to say, for the first time, and the fact that they are currently working on feasibility studies, together with the Bucharest-Ilfov Metropolitan Transport Association and the Bucharest City Hall for the purchase of another 200 trams, of which 100 36-meter trams and 100 27-meter trams meters, of which 20 are bi-directional. Moreover, through the PNRR, there is already a decision of the General Council for the financing of 22 trolleybuses and part of the STB depots and bus depots will be equipped with photovoltaic panels. I want to highlight the fact that public transport in the Capital has become more comfortable, more pleasant to use. The state of cleanliness is different. At the moment we benefit from modern applications and as you have seen recently, it is about the application YouthTB, which is aimed at young people, and InfoTB, which offers access to all users to check the period and time when the vehicle arrives at the station”stated the head of STB.
