Another Russian tycoon died under strange circumstances. Officially, Ivan Pechorin would have fallen drunk from the boat

Ivan Pechorin, general director for the aviation industry of the Russian company Far Eastern and Arctic Development Corporation, died after allegedly falling from a boat off the coast of Vladivostok.

According to Fox News, the announcement of this death was made on Monday by the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.

“Ivan’s death is an irreparable loss to friends and colleagues, a great loss to the corporation. Sincere condolences to family and friends.” – announced the company.

Pravda.ru, a pro-Kremlin news agency, reported that Pechorin and a group of friends were “already wanted” when they boarded a boat on Russky Island, near the city of Vladivostok, on Saturday evening.

Pechorin allegedly fell from the front deck of the boat about 40 minutes into the journey, according to Pravda.ru. His body arrived on Russky Island on Monday.

Pechorin’s death could be a tragic accident or a … “tragic accident,” according to Rebekah Koffler, a former Defense Intelligence Agency officer and author of “Putin’s Playbook: Russia’s Secret Plan to Defeat America.”

It is entirely plausible that Pechorin fell into the sea from the boat while rocking, if he was drunk. Having drinking parties on board a boat, and swimming in the sea in the dark – all this is in line with how Russian oligarchs have fun. But it is also a story to be used to cover something. The truth is unlikely to be discovered because the Russian investigations are unreliable” Koffler told Fox News.

Before he died, Pechorin moderated a discussion at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok — last Wednesday, to be exact — on expanding aviation access to the Far East.

On the same day, Putin traveled to Vladivostok to address the Eastern Economic Forum.

“We have not lost anything and we will not lose anything. As for what we have gained, I can say that the main gain has been the strengthening of our sovereignty”Putin said at the conference on the war in Ukraine, according to a Reuters translation.

Pechorin is not the only member of Russia’s elite to die under murky circumstances.

Ravil Maganov, chairman of Russian oil giant Lukoil, has died two weeks ago after allegedly falling from a hospital window in Moscow. Tass, a Russian-controlled news agency, said he had committed suicide, while his company said he “died after a serious illness”.

Lukoil was one of the few companies to speak out against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, calling it a “tragedy” in the early days of the war and expressing sympathy for the victims.

Last month, the Soviet-born businessman and critic of Putin, Dan Rapoport, would have killed himselfjumping from the window of his luxury apartment in Washington, DC.

Rapaport fled Russia in 2012 because of his support for Alexei Navalny. He has frequently expressed his support for Ukraine on social media, calling Putin “an evil, corrupt, deceitful and dangerous man.”
