A body was found during the search for the heiress of some billionaires. She would have been kidnapped while she was out jogging

A body was found during the search for Eliza Fletcher, the heiress of a US billionaire family.

The discovery was made as police, aided by a helicopter, conducted search operations in a wooded area in Memphis, Tennessee.

Officers have not confirmed the body as that of the 34-year-old mother-of-two.

Where Fletcher’s body was found

The body was found 11 kilometers from where Fletcher was last seen jogging around 4.30am on Friday.

The area searched is just 100 meters from the Longview Gardens apartment complex – where suspect Cleotha Abston’s brother Mario lives, according to the Daily Mail.

Just before the discovery of the human remains was announced, a large Memphis Police Department vehicle was moved to the area.

What the photos from the scene showed

Photos from the scene showed a police helicopter circling above the search operations. Horrified neighbors gathered around the spot where the gruesome discovery was made.

“It could have been anyone jogging that morning, a student, anyone,” April Jackson, 30, said at 7:30 p.m., when the body had not yet been removed.

“It makes me sick,” said Jackson, who took part in the search with police and a dog brought in by officers.

Authorities arrested Cleotha Abston, 38, on Sunday before charging her with aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence after Fletcher’s disappearance on September 2.

Images obtained by police showed a man

Surveillance footage obtained by police, which has not been released, showed a man “aggressively” running at Fletcher and forcing her into the passenger side of the vehicle.

The two struggled and the car then sat in the car park for four minutes with Fletcher inside before driving off to an unknown location.

Officers searched Martin Luther King Riverside Park, as well as an area pond and Pine Hill Park.

Cleotha’s bail was set at $500,000. It appears that the man is refusing to cooperate with the police, according to the quoted source.

And Cleotha’s brother was arrested

His brother Mario Abston, 36, was also arrested on Saturday after police raided his home.

Fletcher’s father, mother, brother and husband appeared on camera with their lawyer, Mike Keeney.

They offered a $50,000 reward for any information leading to Fletcher’s safe return home.

In the statement, Keeney thanked law enforcement for their search efforts and said, “We believe someone knows what happened and can help.”

Who is Eliza Fletcher?

Fletcher was described as a fitness enthusiast, regularly walking the same route. Her phone was found broken on the floor.

The woman was described as having brown hair and green eyes and was last seen wearing a pink jogging top and purple running shorts.

This is the granddaughter of hardware magnate Joseph “Joe” Orgill III, who died in 2018.
